While we promote mental health awareness every month at Dissonance, each May is a special time because others around the country take up the same important cause for National Mental Health Awareness Month.
This year, in partnership with more than 1,600 brands, nonprofits, cultural leaders and government agencies, Dissonance is also proud to participate in MTV’s second annual Mental Health Action Day, May 19. With that in mind, here are five quick suggestions for taking action with us:
1) If you’re experiencing challenges of any sort to your wellbeing, consider talking to a professional in our GET HELP DIRECTORY. As our friend, music artist Caroline Smith, aka Your Smith, likes to say: “Literally Everyone Can Benefit from Therapy.”
2) Join us for an intimate concert and wellness conversation with singer-songwriter extraordinaire CHRIS KOZA on SUNDAY, May 22, in St. Paul.
3) Subscribe and be first to catch the new DISSONANCE SESSIONS video series launching MONDAY, May 23, featuring a concert and mental health conversation with Minnesota music legend CHARLIE PARR!
4) Take a walk and smell some lilacs.
5) If you are experiencing a mental health emergency, call the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline at 1-800-273-8255 or dial 911.
It's not always easy to take action to support our own wellbeing. Fear, time constraints -- there are many barriers. But you, and we all, are worth it! Join us in committing to action today and any day.
